PRO-EKO
An emergency service for the environment
Ecological disasters demonstrate how difficult it is to remove pollution from water surface or solid substratum. They require employing many people and much time to do so. But there is a simple and cheap method for fast removal of various contaminations. It is used in many countries, mainly in Scandinavia so much devoted to the ecology matters.
The method has been promoted in Poland for 6 years by the Pro-Eko company of Szczecin exclusively. The company is a distributor of products of Swedish companies AB Teknisk Mijoutveckling Sv. and Nyman Consulting AB. These companies have developed a technology for effective purification of water and solid substratum, based on production of natural sorbents.
What are sorbents? They are waste from pine bark and pine and spruce wood that is produced in the form of sawdust. Once they are processed in a laboratory, they gain the capacity to absorb various contaminations e.g. oil-derived, heavy metals, solutions of acids, etc. Each of them is purposed for different use. Ecobark removes paints and oil-derived substances and even blood and urine from surface of water as well as solid material, therefore it has been found a universal sorbent. Ecoprool Yellow is used to remove pollutions from solid surfaces and Ecoprool Blue, due to its capacity to absorb water, on the water surfaces - Andrzej Mielczarek, PRO-EKO President, says. We also import modified cellulose which has similar properties as Ecoprool blue. We manufacture a special sorbent purposed for chemical water purification in filters, made of bone meal produced by a Scottish company. The sorbents have Polish certificates issued by the Department of Environmental Toxicology of the National Institute of Hygiene and the Scientific and Research Centre for Fire Protection.
They are packed, for utility purposes, in bags, sleeves, mats, cushions and as the first aid set which is dedicated mainly for drivers. Also filtering baskets and cassettes with sorbent inserts that are useful in purification of rainwater and snowmelt water that goes into the sewage system are manufactured. Both devices are made of stainless perforated steel.
These solutions have versatile application in maritime and road rescue services, refueling stations, seaports and airports, powerplants as well as households. The filtering baskets may be used also as so-called extra-purifiers in wastewater treatment plants.
PRO-EKO cooperates with, among others, the Bełchatów Power Plant and "Dolna Odra" Power Plant as well as Nafta Polska. Among our customers are also seaports and airports.
Sorbents are produced in Sweden, Norway, Canada and Scotland. There are plans to start similar production also in Poland. But devices that contain sorbents have been already manufactured for several years in Poland for PRO-EKO.
